Abstract

The graduate school cyber school for the training in cyber security. The goal of this project is to double the number of trainees in cyber security. 10 partners in Rennes, including IMT Atlantique,  Centrale Supelec, INSA Rennes.

We will present the ecosystem, how we create this project, what is the objective, how we deal with all the management of the school

Glad to have doubled the number of students at the university.

From their very first year of studies, our students, the future cybersecurity specialists, engineers and scientists are involved in  research  projects  which  cover all  cybersecurity-related  fields. Through our teaching programmes, based  on  a  specialised  and  renowned  training  and  research  ecosystem, we cover most of cybersecurity sector needs. Interdisciplinary is one of the Keyword: digital-security challenges programme includes mathematics,  computer  science, electronics and  human  and  social  sciences.

Pierre-Alain Fouque

Pierre Alain Fouque is the CyberSchool Director. Pierre-Alain Fouque is a Researcher Professor at the University of Rennes 1 and the Scientific Director of the CyberSchool. His research involves symmetrical & public-key cryptography, proof of security protocols used in real life such as TLS or Signal, attacks by auxiliary channels, and the development of automatic attack detection tools by learning. His research is carried out at IRISA.

Frédéric Renouard

Frédéric Renouard is operational manager at the cyberschool. Frederic joined the University of Rennes 1 in 2010 to develop the EIT Digital Center in Rennes (www.eitdigital.eu) and other initiatives to foster European cooperation in education and innovation. Previously, Frederic spent 12 years with Alcatel in various technical and management positions. He then contributed to the creation and development of 3 startups in the telecom and software industries: Telisma, Open Plug and Trusted Logic.

Cyberschool, Rennes

CyberSchool is managed by Université de Rennes 1 and draws on the expertise of Rennes’ universities, four leading engineering schools (CentraleSupélec, IMT Atlantique, INSA Rennes and ENSAI), ENS Rennes, Sciences-Po Rennes, in close collaboration with the CNRS and Rennes-Bretagne Atlantique Inria Centre, and with the support of the French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA), Région Bretagne (Rennes Regional Council) and Rennes Métropole (Greater Rennes).

The School provides in-depth interaction between students and research professors who are leaders in their specific cybersecurity field. Master’s students learn how to develop the level of expertise and agility necessary to adapt to real-life situations. PhD students use their cybersecurity expertise and proficiency to provide businesses with the innovative solutions they need to protect themselves.

At the core of Rennes’ ecosystem, CyberSchool’s Master’s and PhD students, and interns, are given the opportunity to collaborate with various academic and socio-economic actors.

The Cyber CNI Lecture Series is a free monthly event that takes place on the last Wednesday of the month from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

The event consists of a 40-minute expert presentation followed by a 30-minute discussion.

The Cyber CNI Speaker series aims to raise awareness and understanding of cyber security issues among all audiences. It aims to enable an ongoing dialogue between experts from industry and academia and the general public (citizens, families, small and large businesses, public organizations, etc.). All of us are concerned.

The events are broadcasted live on Youtube (https://talk.cybercni.fr/) and LinkedIN, allowing a worldwide remote participation – including a tool to participate in the discussion.

How the digital transformation is changing our lives

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown all of us the benefits of information technology. It allows us to work at a distance, to live at a distance, and most importantly, to keep in touch at a distance – with younger and older people, those closest to us, and even making new contacts.

Our society relies more and more on information and operational technologies. Examples include water, energy, heat and cooling supply, communications, healthcare, production and processing of goods, transportation, national security, banking, research and education, and food production.

What all these areas have in common is that they make intensive use of networked distributed computer systems. These systems can be attacked in many ways. This is no longer just a problem for computer “pros”, because computer systems are essential to all of us. The effects of “cyber-attacks” range from power outages to the collapse of the health care or banking sectors.
