MOOC | Cybersecurity Essentials : from Risk to Resilience

Facing the intensification of cyber threats, organizations must now rethink their approach to digital security. In this context, training and knowledge sharing have become strategic levers for raising the overall level of protection. The MOOC Cybersecurity Essentials: from Risk to Resilience, developed by Professor Marc-Oliver Pahl at IMT Atlantique, fully aligns with this dynamic. Designed for field IT and OT professionals, this program offers a concrete and directly applicable approach to moving from risk to resilience.

Training frontline actors

In many SMEs and organizations, cybersecurity relies on non-specialized but essential profiles: system administrators, technicians, or versatile IT managers. This MOOC was designed to meet their specific needs by providing immediately actionable skills. It enables participants to understand attack logics, master key measures such as multi-factor authentication or network segmentation, and structure a clear action plan. Beyond technical aspects, it also provides the tools to effectively communicate with decision-makers and prioritize cybersecurity investments.

Knowledge sharing as a resilience driver

This project illustrates the importance of knowledge dissemination in a constantly evolving digital environment. By making high-level educational content accessible, this MOOC contributes to democratizing cybersecurity and strengthening organizations’ ability to face threats. Offered in both English and French via platforms such as Coursera and FUN-MOOC, it targets a broad audience, thereby enabling large-scale upskilling and improved collective resilience.

A European collaboration serving territories

The development of this MOOC is part of the European Digital Innovation Hubs framework, and more specifically the EDIH Bretagne. Supported by the European Union, this network of around 200 hubs aims to support the digital transformation of businesses. As a founding member of the Breton EDIH consortium, IMT Atlantique plays a structuring role in developing concrete solutions for SMEs, mid-sized companies, and public organizations. This collaboration makes it possible to pool expertise, accelerate the dissemination of best practices, and strengthen economic and digital impact at both regional and European levels.

Through Cybersecurity Essentials: from Risk to Resilience, the Cyber CNI Chair demonstrates that cybersecurity is above all about knowledge transfer and upskilling frontline actors. By combining a pragmatic approach, broad dissemination, and European collaboration, this MOOC represents a concrete lever for sustainably strengthening organizations’ digital resilience.
