Chaire Cyber CNI – Cybersecurity for Critical Networked Infrastructures

The CyberSecDome project validates its mid-term review and continues its strategic deployment!

The CyberSecDome project, funded by the European Commission as part of the Horizon Europe program, has just reached a major milestone: its mid-term review, carried out with the entire consortium and external evaluators, has been successfully validated. This milestone confirms the relevance of the project’s vision and the soundness of the work carried out to date.

A proactive approach to protecting digital infrastructures

CyberSecDome offers a proactive solution for securing digital infrastructures against cyber threats. The project is built around four main pillars :

  1. Digital Infrastructure – The technical base connected to real critical systems.
  2. Virtual Infrastructure (Digital Twins) – The use of the CyberRange enables secure simulation, training and testing.
  3. AI-Empowered Security Tools – Tools powered by artificial intelligence to detect, analyze and respond to incidents in real time.
  4. Extended Reality (XR) Collaborative User Interface – An immersive interface that fuses human skills and artificial intelligence to improve understanding of and response to attacks.

This unique architecture enables business continuity to be maintained, even in the event of a cyber attack, by combining behavioral analysis, forensics, automated penetration testing and AI-assisted decision-making in a collaborative space.

The project also aims to create an interconnected network of CyberSecDomes, forming a “global cybersphere” offering secure information exchange without divulging sensitive data, collective threat analysis and the development of coordinated response strategies.

Our role: WP4 – Immersive interfaces, explainable AI and system integration

As leader of Work Package 4, our team is driving the development and integration of several critical system building blocks:

  • An immersive virtual reality (VR/XR) interface dedicated to cybersecurity tasks, offering dynamic and interactive visualizations of threats.
  • Explainable AI tools (XAI) to improve human understanding of decisions made by AI.
  • A secure knowledge-sharing system between the different CyberSecDome instances, via swarm learning and AI model federation mechanisms.
  • Integration, testing, validation and fine-tuning of the entire system in pilot environments.

This work has enabled the project’s technological components to converge towards a coherent, robust platform ready for use in demanding operational contexts.

A collective dynamic praised in the review

The mid-term review provided an opportunity to present interim results, gather expert feedback and confirm the alignment of scientific and technological objectives. It also highlighted the strong collaboration between partners and the quality of deliverables produced to date.

What’s next?

The next stage of the project promises to be just as dynamic, with the implementation of the first round of experiments resulting from the Open Call, which enables external partners to integrate innovative use cases into CyberSecDome. In the coming months, the second Open Call will be launched, offering new collaboration opportunities to European cybersecurity players.

We would like to thank all consortium members for their involvement, and the evaluators for their constructive exchanges. The rest of the project looks promising, with many demonstrations and validations planned in the coming months.
