CyberSecDome : the project enters its final year and validates its demonstrator
Marc-Oliver PAHL, chair holder, and Fabien EYSSARTIER, XR-VR engineer at the Cyber CNI chair, travelled to Braunschweig, Germany. On 25 and 26 February 2026, they had the opportunity to participate in the plenary meeting of the CyberSecDome project’s technical committee, hosted by AEGIS IT Research GmbH, a member of the project consortium.
As we approach the final six months of the project (which will end in August 2026), this meeting was essential to consolidate technical progress, review the activities of the open call for projects, and align on the roadmap leading to the final demonstrator and project closure.
Day 1 – Open Call Projects & Final Integration Phase
The first day is dedicated primarily to the Open Call Round 1 sub-projects, which play a dual and strategic role:
- They extend the CyberSecDome ecosystem with complementary solutions.
- They act as external validators of our framework, assessing its robustness, adaptability, and added value in real-world scenarios.
All Round 1 sub-projects (CASeR-Safe, DomeSentinel, ACRYS, ATTENTO, SCAF-DOME, ELEVATE, ADAPT, CATT-46, SHIELD) present their implementation status and next steps. This provides the consortium with structured technical feedback and consolidated insights on integration maturity.
The consortium also:
- Reviews the Open Call Round 1 final reporting status and pending administrative actions.
- Conducts internal approval discussions for mid-term reviews and interim payments.
- Advances Open Call Round 2 implementation planning, including technical monitoring and financial management.
Importantly, this day also reflects the transition from development to consolidation:
We are finalizing system integrations, validating interoperability across components, and intensifying testing activities for the final CyberSecDome demonstrator. The integration maturity and the positive feedback from Open Call projects confirm the robustness and innovation potential of our approach.
Overall, Day 1 demonstrates a highly successful Open Call mechanism that has strengthened both the technical and ecosystem dimensions of the project.
Day 2 – Pilots, Evaluation & Exploitation
The second day was devoted to validation, impact assessment and sustainability :
- Progress in socio-economic and techno-economic evaluation (Task 5.5), ensuring measurable impact and cost-effectiveness.
- Updates from the OTE and AIA pilots, confirming operational validation in realistic environments.
- WP6 discussions on exploitation strategies, business planning, dissemination achievements, and standardization contributions.
As the project enters its final phase, discussions concentrate on:
- Ensuring measurable impact across pilots.
- Consolidating exploitation pathways.
- Aligning standardization efforts with European cybersecurity frameworks.
- Defining a clear and detailed workplan for the next six months.
High-Level Insights : What CyberSecDome Delivers
CyberSecDome (Grant Agreement No. 101120779) is an innovative Horizon Europe cybersecurity project developing a Virtual Reality–based intrusion detection, incident investigation, and response platform for complex and heterogeneous digital infrastructures.
At a high level, CyberSecDome:
- Introduces immersive cybersecurity operations through VR-based visualization of security events.
- Enhances situational awareness for Security Operations Centers (SOCs).
- Enables advanced incident investigation and response orchestration.
- Integrates AI-driven detection mechanisms with intuitive visual analytics.
- Supports resilience, privacy, and accountability in critical infrastructures.
- Builds a growing innovation ecosystem through Open Calls and third-party validation.
The project represents a paradigm shift from traditional dashboard-based cybersecurity monitoring toward immersive, interactive, and collaborative cyber defence environments.
As we move toward August 2026, CyberSecDome stands as a technically mature, well-integrated, and strongly validated platform—demonstrating both technological excellence and tangible impact across pilots and external adopters.
This final phase of CyberSecDome demonstrates the importance of operational validation in cybersecurity projects. It has enabled the Cyber CNI Chair and IMT Atlantique to test their solutions in complex environments. By combining technological innovation and practical experimentation, CyberSecDome strengthens security, resilience and trust in critical digital infrastructures.
