Chaire Cyber CNI – Cybersecurity for Critical Networked Infrastructures

Our stand at the ECW 2021 (16.11.-18.11.2021, Rennes)

At the 2021 ECW, together with our chairholder Marc-Oliver Pahl, Léo Lavaur, Anthony David, and Nicolas Delcombel, three of our PhD students, presented a demo on our research line covering Virtual Reality interfaces for improving human-machine communication in cybersecurity.

Many people came to our demo, leading to exciting discussions. Airbus and Amossys kindly hosted our demo at their stand. Thank you for the great partnership and support!

About the demo

The Cyber CNI Industrial Chair covers cybersecurity topics across the entire logic and network stack, from hardware to users of IT and OT systems. The demonstration at European Cyber Week focuses on the “human in the loop” aspect. By putting themselves in the shoes of a cyber operator, visitors can step inside the Chair’s immersive and collaborative 3D interfaces to discover how they improve the perception of cyberspace and its security.

The objectives of this demonstration are multiple. First, to immerse participants in a realistic virtual environment in which they can move and interact. This environment is actually a physical representation of a virtual network in the Airbus CyberSecurity CyberRange, an advanced integration and simulation platform. Then, the objective will be to investigate this virtual network by following the advice of a virtual assistant and an “expert”, thus allowing to highlight the human-IA and human-human collaboration in virtual environment.

Finally, the investigations will involve the use of visual representations of technical data, in order to offer the operator an exhaustive vision of his environment at a glance.

About the chaire Cyber CNI

The IMT Cyber CNI Chair (cyberCNI.fr) is hosted by IMT Atlantique on the Rennes campus. It studies the security of critical infrastructures under the direction of Marc-Oliver PAHL and with the collaboration of its industrial partners Airbus Cybersecurity, Amossys, BNP Paribas, EDF, Nokia Bell Labs and SNCF, as well as institutional partners such as the Pôle d’Excellence Cyber and the Brittany region, and academic partners IMT Atlantique, Télécom ParisTech and Télécom SudParis.

About the European Cyber Week (ECW)

Europe’s cybersecurity and cyberdefense community met in Rennes for the 6th edition of the European Cyber Week (ECW). The ECW is the flagship event of the Pôle d’Excellence Cyber. The 6th edition in 2021 focuses once more on the strategic subjects of cyberdefense, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

The chaire CyberCNI.fr plays an important role in the cybersecurity ecosystem and is well connected. This led to strong presence and numerous great meetings. On this picture from left to right, our chairholder Marc-Oliver Pahl (Chaire Cybersécurité des Infrastructures Critiques, cyberCNI.fr) meets with Patrick Erard (Délégué général adjoint, Pôle d’Excellence Cyber), Serge Maurice (Directeur des relations opérationnelles et Défense at Airbus), Frédéric Rémi (CEO of Amossys), Nicolas Razy (Head of Defence and Strategic Programmes France at Airbus).

Marc-Oliver Pahl participated in the program committée of the C&ESAR conference. He also was on stage for a roundtable at the Journée Innovations & Stratégies Cyber on « Les nouveaux enjeux de la cybersécurité liés aux personnes, aux biens et aux usages » (The new challenges of cybersecurity related to people, goods and uses).
